Re: Movies: New & Old...
Has anyone seen the trailer for "Ninja Assassin"? It looks awesome and Rain plays in it! lol. Can't wait for this one to come out. And I'm still waiting on any news of when "Bunraku" with Gackt is coming out. I haven't even seen a trailer for it and it says the movie is supposed to be out 2009/2010.
If you haven't seen "Moon" I do suggest watching it. It's... interesting. lol.

I am completely stoked for Ninja Assassin. Looks fantastic. And I can't wait for news about Bunraku, it's been too long since they finished filming and everything. It needs to come out ASAP

Yeah I can't wait for Ninja Assassin, too! On another forum I hang out on, we've been discussing it and watching all the trailers and news clips about it for a few months now, so the anticipation has really built up. As you may or may not know, my husband owns two movies theaters. Well, he doesn't select the movies (because it's a HUGE process since studios only make so many copies of each movie) but I've still be bugging him about it. I say, "Huuuuuunny. If the film booker talks about an action movie called NINJA ASSASSIN and asks your opinion, tell him 'YES FOR THE LOVE OF MY WIFE'S HAPPINESS GET IT!' mkay sweetie?" *big grins*
Let's hope that worked, else I'll actually have to go another theater *shudder*

That's nice, at least when he gets movies you would potentially enjoy.

Yeah it's really nice. There are a lot of good movies out there. Unfortunately there are also a lot of crappy ones. LOL!
I'm looking forward to The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus!

I agree on that one wholeheartedly. That, Astro Boy (just for kicks), Ninja Assassin, Alice in Wonderland....and probably more I can't think of...

We have Astro Boy right now but I haven't watched it yet. On Thursday I'm going to watch that, the Michael Jackson one, Where the Wild Things Are, and whatever comes out this week. I need to catch up!

:| College slowly sucks the life out of students. It's the working industry's way of making mindless zombies out of their employees. Hence why they require years of "brainwashing" in order to be accepted for the job.
Last movie I saw in theaters was... gah. Can't ever remember. @.@ I DID get a chance to watch Way of the Dragon with Bruce Lee today. ^.^ There's nothing like curling up on the couch with a blankie on a cold day with a ton of old films to watch.

The Men Who Stare At Goats and The Fourth Kind are both.... "ok." They are well-done, creative, and at least they aren't the "same ol' same ol'" movie. But I wasn't bowled over by either of them. See them, but don't expect masterpieces.

Re: Movies: New & Old...
"Don't watch it alone" they said. "It's really creepy"
Me? "Aw. i don't scare that easily."
:|
Paranormal Activity.
Yes. That one. I have officially decided that I will never sleep again. It's not just the creepiness or the premise that this could actually be TRUE, it's the fact that I have a creepy bedroom. Right now I have a comforter hanging on the door drying, which is a very lovely shadow in the dark. Also, I just put up two black shelves beside my bed that was a bit freaky. Then whatever that was shinning in my closet (i am smart enough not to get up and check. that can wait till morning.) And what really takes the cake are the two water dragons in their cage on the other side of the room. They just decide to become nocturnal every once in awhile, and that just happened to be tonight. What do they do? They decide they want to SPLASH in their waterbowl and CLAW against the wire front.
Sooo.... yeah. If you like being creeped out beyond measure, then watch it. But watch it WITH someone. lol. As for me... it's called stuffing my earphones on and keeping my feet away from the sides of my bed till morning. Err.... or .... at least LATER in the morning.... when the sun starts shining. lol. Good times, good times.

Re: Movies: New & Old...
I thought Paranormal Activity was pretty good. It didn't scare me by making things jump out or "oh no I just ran into something around the corner!" tactics. It was refreshing to not be able to guess what would happen next. Several times I anticipated one of the characters to be flipped out and attacking the other in the dark, or hanging from the rafters, or some typical schlock, but was usually wrong. That was actually nice, for a change. I can't say it has any replay value for me, but at least I didn't hate it.
Now... onto to biggest news I have today: I GOT TO SEE NINJA ASSASSIN!!!! Wooooooo! Pure bloody goodness from start to finish! The plots of martial arts films like this are rarely indepth, and this is no great exception. DO NOT watch any more trailers or you'll know what happens and it'll ruin it for you. Rain is great as the protagonist but the rest of the cast is... meh. Well, the leader of the ninja school is cool too, and so is the ninja girl, but the main supporting cast of Europol agents are seriously lame. The fight scenes are the main point though, right? (*
*) And they're done to perfection. Dismemberment and gore everywhere, it's awesome! But then again I expect, want, and love that out of films of this genre. Anything less and I'm bored. Besides the crappy supporting cast, there are only two other things that bugged me: the blood had too much illuminator (stuff to make it show up on film better) in it to the point that it looked like it was glowing or CG'ed in. Also the fact that not a single Rain song made it into the movie, not even the ending credits. Maybe I shouldn't have expected that... but really, couldn't I have expected it a little? Well, besides all that at least they referred to him as Rain and not Ji-hun Jeung, so hopefully people will still find his music. For a martial arts movie made for the sole purpose of splattering blood, there were some delightful and refreshing ideas and twists. Even a little humor when they say, "He doesn't look much like a killing machine. Looks like he belongs in a boy band." ROFL!
I also saw Astro Boy today. (Finally!) It was cute but seemed a little dark for a kids film. Lots of, "I'm going to kill you!" and over-the top violence. No one has complained that their kids didn't like it in the two weeks that we've had it so I guess it isn't as bad as I think. The animation is well-done, paying special attention to lighting details in particular. Overall, I thought it was good but I wish it were a bigger hit with the audiences for such a monumental manga and tv series.
Seeing 2012 in a few minutes. More mindless non-stop action - and that's not always a bad thing ;-)
